The Alchemy of Anxiety: Flesh, Fear, and the Israeli Reality

A conceptual colorful oil painting young boy portrait blending human features with primal characteristics in a unique oil study.

Portrait of a Young Boy, Oil on Canvas

I have often been described as a "24/7 Painting Machine," but this machine does not run on electricity. It runs on a specific, raw fuel: the "morbid material" of our existence. To understand my work-the distortions, the vibrant yet unsettling palettes, and the raw textures-one must look beyond the canvas and into the pressurized reality that defines my home.

Born from a Cultural Zero Point

My art is a direct reflection of my background and the current reality in Israel. Living here creates a constant state of pressure, a lack of balance, and an underlying sense of fear. This isn't just a political statement; it is a visceral experience that pushes me to create from what I call a "cultural zero point".

In this state, the filters of "refined culture" are swept away, leaving behind only the essence: the living flesh and the natural, basic feelings that thrive under the surface. My paintings are a political reaction to this loaded environment—a way to process the energies of terror and passion that flow beneath our daily lives.

The Distorted Body as a Reflection

The figures you see in my work-bald, pale, and often appearing as victims of humiliation or discrimination-are "refugees of culture". They are products of a technological and scientific laboratory that is often violent and unforgiving.

I choose to present the body as a distortion or a disturbance. These characters are like survivors who have passed through trauma, existing in a state of alienation, as if they are "fish outside water". By isolating these figures, I concentrate their power, creating a tension between despair, loneliness, and a forced acceptance of their position.

A Modern Baroque Drama

There is a deliberate connection between my work and the Baroque tradition. The drama I create in the flesh is defined by the way light (color) falls on the image, defining and redefining the face with every brushstroke. It is a manipulative hybrid: I use traditional oil-on-canvas techniques to explore an extreme, contemporary perception of the human form.

Whether I am painting a "Brain Circuit," a "Distorted Portrait," or one of my "Geometric Animals," I am exploring the mental relations between the normal state and madness, between beauty and the repulsive.

The Sterile Lab: A Challenge to the Viewer

My studio is my "Sterile Lab". It is a place where I can purify my ideas and examine society through a microscopic lens. As the world becomes more competitive and visual overload becomes the norm, I believe artistic expressions must become bolder and more explicit.

I don't seek to provoke for the sake of provocation. Rather, I want to inspire a challenge: to think about the brute times we live in and the ways culture forces its agenda on our most basic emotions.

When you look at my paintings, I ask you a disturbing question: Do you accept or reject this depicted reality?. We are all, in some way, like tree trunks in the snow—appearing loose, but firmly rooted in a reality that is often just an illusion.
